A trip to Loudoun County’s local farms gives visitors the opportunity to tour historic properties, catch a glimpse of animals in their natural habitats, select their own produce and more, all while taking in panoramic views of lush valleys flanked by the majestic Short Hill, Blue Ridge, and Sugarloaf Mountains.

Here’s a list of some of the best local farms to visit in Loudoun County:

Great Country Farms

Located in Bluemont, Great Country Farms is a terrific destination that has all the ingredients needed to create an unforgettable experience for visitors of all ages, including apple and strawberry picking, pumpkin patch wagon rides, crop mazes, catch and release fishing, and more. 

They offer seasonal pick-your-own activities where guests can harvest strawberries in late May, blackberries, peaches, and cherries during the summer, and apples and pumpkins in the fall. Visitors can also shop for freshly picked produce, jams, honey, local flours, handmade soaps, gift items, and other great products at The Farm Market.

Great Country Farms can also be used as a venue for birthday celebrations, farm tours, field trips, and company picnics.   

Crooked Run Orchard

Crooked Run Orchard is a small family owned and operated pick-your-own farm in Purcellville that features apples, blackberries, sour cherries, gooseberries, pears, peaches, sunflowers, and more. Visitors at the farm can stop by the farm stand to find a great selection of products made with quality local ingredients, including jams, jellies, soaps, goat milk, honey, eggs, holiday wreaths, and other items.

Temple Hall Farm Regional Park

Encompassing 286 acres, the expansive Temple Hall Farm Regional Park offers opportunities for visitors of all ages to learn more about farm animals and increase their knowledge about agriculture and farming. 

Guests will be able to join a free guided tour of the farm, or explore it on their own by trying the free family scavenger hunt designed to provide information on different breeds of farm animals. During the fall, guests can have fun as they find their way through the park’s cornfield “Maize,” fire a pumpkin cannon, and enjoy various farm games and activities at the Fall Festival. 

Wegmeyer Farms

Nestled in northern Virginia’s scenic rolling hills, Wegmeyer Farms is a boutique farm that offers pick-your-own strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and more than 30 pumpkin varieties. 

Wegmeyer Farms is the winner of several prestigious awards including the “2016 Virginia Farm of the Year,” “2016 Loudoun County Small Business Award,” and “2017 Loudoun County Rural Innovation Award.” Some of their produce were also featured at The White House as well as popular cooking shows on the Food Network. 

Amazing Farm Fun at Ticonderoga Farms

Kids will definitely enjoy a trip to Amazing Farm Fun at Ticonderoga, as this incredible venue features a vast array of kid-friendly attractions including a miniature Noah’s Ark, several giant slide areas, a Willow Maze and Panda Bamboo Maze, a pedal kart track, giant pillow play areas, hayrides, and many more.   

Amazing Farm Fun also organizes special events for different seasons, such as the Easter Egg Hunt Spectacular and the Fall Festival. 

Virtual Farm Tour

Due to the current global pandemic, Loudoun Economic Development has reimagined the Loudoun Fall Farm Tour, an annual county tradition that celebrates the harvest season. The farm tour can now be enjoyed in a virtual, interactive online platform that will be available at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2020.
